The geodesics on an ellipsoid of revolution.


Mathematical description
The model represents an ellipsoid of revolution, i.e., a surface generated by rotating an ellipse about an axis. In this case the ellipsoid is given by the equation:

                 x2    y2    z2
                --- + --- + ---  = 1
                 4     4     9       
On the model we can see some geodesics of the ellipsoid which are locally length-minimizing curves.
