Mathematical description
This model is a surface of revolution generated by rotating a curve about an axis. The model represents a surface with constant positive curvature. There are geodesics on a surface, a length-minimizing curve between two points. The model is an example where the meridians does not intersect the axis. A meridian of the surface is the intersection of the surface with a plane containing the axis of revolution.
