    About authors

Microarray technology has opened the possibility to measure the expression of thousands of genes in a variety of organisms at any developmental instance. Such experiments lead to a wealth of genetic data, which might be used to pose a number of biological or medical questions.

This book presents a comprehensive guide to the statistical methods that are needed to answer such questions (cf. table of contents). The book explains these methods means of five actual microarray experiments. All of the techniques explained in the book are publically available in the R programming environment. All the new techniques developed in the book are bundled in an R-library, called smida.
