In the very beginning there was only Nothing; he ruled|
like a King in a completely black vacuum. He was
a cruel King and his rule was despotic. When friendship
delegations from far away galaxies would knock on the gate
he would have them captured and locked in his dark castle,
called "Nothing". Nothing would ever be seen of them again.
And in a way the King was right, because he knew that
if he would allow Something into his Nothing,
his rule would be lost forever. Because Something and Nothing
could never live together. When Something was there
Nothing would be gone and gone forever. Something
could be pulverized, could be crushed, transformed,
but could never be turned into Nothing.
But one night when the King of Nothing was asleep,
a little Boy of Something, wandered innocently into
the palace with a flower. He didn't know he was not
supposed to be there, and he walked over to the bed
where the King was sleeping. The King woke up and
looked very angry. The little Boy did not know what
he had done wrong, but presented the King with the
flower to make him look less angry. The King became
even more angry and rushed towards him; the little
Boy put his hands before his eyes as to protect
himself. The little Boy thought the King would
crush him under his heavy boots that he always wore;
even in bed. But when the King was almost in front of him,
the King started to disappear and all that remained
of him was a scent in the air.
The little Boy took over the palace
and established the rule of Something
that lasts up to this very day. But
sometimes the great-great-great-grand children
of the little Boy still smell that peculiar smell
of Nothing. They stop and wonder what it is.
It penetrates their souls and makes them feel
slightly sad. The King of Nothing left a smell
around all that is. All that is will someday
not be, and that is what makes them sad. They
call it "nostalgia"...
