Henk de Snoo

This webpage offers a list of recent publications (since 2019). Furthermore some information is given, in Dutch, about a joint project with Henk Broer (Groningen) concerning mathematics and mathematicians since the seventeenth century in this part of the country.

Speaking about history, my 80th birthday took place in 2025 and was celebrated in Graz (thanks to Jussi Behrndt in Graz and Seppo Hassi in Vaasa). Connected with that celebration is a collection of papers in the journal

Academische wiskunde in Noord-Nederland

Dit is een lopend project van Henk Broer en Henk de Snoo, waarbij vanaf de zeventiende eeuw de lotgevallen van het vak wiskunde en haar beoefenaren (m/v) in Noord Nederland worden verzameld op de website De academische wiskunde in Noord-Nederland. Zie ook de voordrachten

Theodorus van Swinderen (1784-1851), schoolopzichter en hoogleraar, was in 1801 een van de oprichters van het Koninklijk Natuurkundig Genootschap. Hij hield een rede bij het overlijden van de wiskundige Jacob Baart de la Faille (1757-1823), wiens demonstraties bij natuurkunde colleges een van de inspiratiebronnen voor het genootschap waren geweest. Van Swinderen, door de historicus Johan Huizinga liefkozend Dorus 't wonderkind genoemd, was een belangwekkende figuur die nu helaas aan lager wal is geraakt (foto Mei 2026).
